This project started of as an exercise in learning how to use my new lens, the Aero Ektar 178mm on my Speed Graphic. Soon I fell in love with what I can do with it and this project was born from that.
This is a moody series for me with a slightly darker undertones.

I have been a pinhole photographer for a few years now. As I was learning who I was as an artist I realized that I loved moody and surreal images. I started playing with pinhole photography and I fell in love with it knowing that it was the perfect medium to express myself the way I wanted to.
I currently use a Zero Image 69 pinhole camera along with a large format pinhole that I built, affectionately named Pinnelope.

Although I didn’t live in San Francisco's Chinatown, I grew up in Chinatown. My family lived on the other side of Russian Hill and going to Chinatown was a weekly event for us. My parents were both born in China and going over the hill to that part of the city was more than a ritual for them. I have very fond memories of that mysterious place. The sounds, the smells, the people, the scenes, all still resonate in my mind. By finally documenting Chinatown, one of my life-long goals has been achieved. I have a strong desire to share how I see this place that has so much meaning to me.
